Papermaking with Plants

Recycle your garden waste into beautiful sheets of paper. You will learn how to identify fibres and pick suitable plants for turning into paper pulp. You will take home handouts on gathering and prepping fibres, and watch a demo on blending the pulp. The class will make papers using garden fibres the instructor has prepared in advance of the class, and take home 10 or more sheets of paper. Examples of fibres will depend on the harvest, but might be a batch of lily leaves, daffodil leaves, cattails, or something completely different!

Introduction to Marbling Paper

Learn the art of European marbling, using acrylic paint and thickened water (carrageenan). Paints are floated on the surface of the water bath, tools are used to create intricate patterns, and the paint is transferred to paper. Each class we will focus on one or two new patterns and build on earlier designs. Students will be required to do prep work for classes the day before. The paper you create can be used for bookbinding, scrapbooking and other paper arts.
